Yogasana to Avoid Yoga Postures with Heart Issues

Monik Mehta

Yoga is beneficial to both mind and body. The postures assist you to maintain a healthy heart and a fit body. Avoid positions that put too much strain on your heart. Aside from regular exercise, there are other crucial factors to consider while treating heart diseases, such as stress reduction and a nutritious diet. Yoga is a life-balancing activity, but you should avoid some yoga postures if you have or are at risk of developing heart disease.

You should avoid the following yoga asanas:

Chakrasana (Wheel pose)

Chakrasana is a backbend that demands a lot of power to maintain a healthy breathing rhythm. It causes your heart to work harder to pump blood, thus it should be avoided.

Halasana (Plough Pose)

The Halsana posture also forces your heart to flow blood against gravity and against pressure on the lower body.

Karnapirasana (Ear closing pose)

Karnapirasana is similar to halasana, but it demands more work since you must pull your legs closer to the ground and place your knees next to your ears.

Sarvangasana (Shoulder stand):

When you are standing on your shoulders, with all of your weight on your upper body, you should avoid Sarvangasana. For blood circulation, the heart must fight against gravity.

Sirshasana (Headstand):

Sirshasana is a twisted pose. The body is supported upright by the arms, with the head resting on the floor. Because the legs are held over the heart, the heart must apply extra pressure to pump blood to the lower body.

Viparita Karani (Simple inverted pose):

In the Viparita posture, you must lie on your back and gently raise your legs while supporting your hips with your hands. Because your legs are above your heart, this posture, like the others, may place pressure on your heart for blood circulation to your lower body.

Yoga practice helps develop the body and mind and has a lot of health benefits. If you want to include Yoga in your life but have a medical condition, especially heart disease, it is essential to visit a heart specialist hospital in Gurgaon.
